INSTRUCTIONS
FOR USE
How do I know if these will fit under my fitted sheet or mattress pad?
The
bumpers stay in place best when placed directly on top of the
mattress and all other bedding goes over top. Deep
pocket fitted sheets work best with the Bed Bug Bumper by providing
more slack to accommodate the bumper. Inexpensive fitted sheet
clips are available at bedding stores and will help to hold your
fitted sheet in place. In most cases, your current sheet will work
properly without any additional adjustments. Place the bumper at
least 3 inches in from the edge of the mattress or more than 3
inches if you have tight fitting sheets. If your bedding is
extremely tight and currently does not go around the bottom corner
of your mattress, then you may need to purchase a newer fitted sheet
with deeper pockets or use a sheet clip. Another option is to place
the Bed Bug Bumper on top of the fitted sheet and lay another flat
sheet over the entire bed. Make sure the flat sheet has enough
fabric to tuck under both sides of the mattress. The more Bed Bug
Bumpers you use in the bed, the more slack you will need from your
fitted sheet or mattress pad. Fitted sheets purchased in the last 5
years can easily handle 3 Bed Bug Bumpers when used on a standard
size mattress.
Can I purchase a cover for the Bed Bug Bumper?
One
of the best features of the Bed Bug Bumper is that it stays in place
due to the surface "grab" of the foam. Placing a
cover over the foam may cause some movement or slipping to occur.
Since you are already "covering" the foam with your fitted
sheet or mattress pad, there is really no need to cover it again.
My child is a wild sleeper, will this keep him in bed?
The
Bed Bug is effective for wild or active sleepers. Several
customers have mentioned that their restless children sleep more
soundly with the Bed Bug Bumpers. There are a small number of
children that could not be contained with the bumper. If
you are dissatisfied for any reason, just return within 30 days and
we will issue a full refund.
Can I use the Bed Bug Bumper in a toddler bed?
Yes.
For Toddler Beds that use crib mattresses and sheets, a better
quality crib sheet will allow enough room for the Bed Bug Bumper to
go under. We have also developed a deep pocket crib sheet for use with the
bumper and a self-adhesive
non-slip pad for vinyl mattresses. The non-slip pad keeps the
bumper from sliding around on a vinyl covered mattress. The Bed Bug Bumper is not for use in a crib unless it has
been converted for a toddler.
How can I cut the Bed Bug Bumper to a different size?
An
electric knife will cleanly slice through polyurethane foam. Save
the cut-off piece in case you ever need the full size again. The cut
pieces can be placed side by side and work as well as they did
before they were cut.
Is there a longer length available?
You
may add
any length in increments of 21", 27" or 42".
These extra pieces should be placed in a straight line together with
the original bumper.
How do these work in traveling?
They
can be folded or rolled and placed in a suitcase or duffel bag.
They are very lightweight - about 11 ounces each for the 42 inch
bumper. When possible,
avoid repeated extreme compression of foam such as vacuum packing. After
travel, store uncompressed and away from sunlight. There is also an Ultimate
Travel Pack available.
What
are the fire retardant chemicals used in the foam?
The
fire retardant in this foam is Firemaster 550 which meets California
standards and is PBDE free.
Does the foam require special care?
The
foam can be cleaned with an adhesive lint roller or damp soapy
cloth. Do not let children play with the Bed Bug Bumpers since the
foam is not covered, it can be damaged or a small child could bite
off a piece of foam and potentially swallow it. When not in use
store the foam uncompressed and away from direct sunlight which can
cause drying and discoloration of the foam.
